Church Leadership

Howard has been pastor of First Baptist Church of Woodlawn since May of 2008. Previously he served four American Baptist Churches all in the Pittsburgh area.  He is married to the Rev. Carol Ross Irwin who is a chaplain at Trinity Health System, and is a teaching Pastor at our church. They have 3 adult daughters.

 

In addition to being a pastor, he is also a licensed clinical social worker in Pennsylvania and does marital, mental health and substance abuse counseling. His interests include reading (particularly John Grisham novels), running (very slowly), disc golf (you don’t know what fun is until you’ve thrown a Frisbee through the woods at a metal basket on a pole), and cooking (or at least eating). He’s maintained a transformational 140-pound weight loss for more than10 years.

 

With humor (or at least attempts at it) and stories, Pastor Howard takes the truths of the Bible and applies them to living in today’s world.
